Rustic Mashed Potatoes

Requirements
- 2 pounds thin-skinned potatoes, washed and unpeeled
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup milk or half & half, warmed
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- Combine all ingredients except milk in a single layer on the bottom of the slow cooker. Cover; on LOW for 7 hours or on HIGH for 4 hours. After cooking time is completed, test potatoes with a fork to ensure they are done.
- Gently start to mash potatoes with a potato masher. Slowly pour the milk over the potatoes and gently continue mashing. Add as much of the milk as needed, being careful not to over mash or the potatoes will get too starchy (and gluey).
- Season to taste and serve warm.
