Pumpkin Spiced Latte
Requirements
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon whole cloves (approx. 5)
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- Pinch of mixed spices
- 1/2 tsp Demerara sugar
- 250ml cold milk
- 1 x espresso shot
Preparation
To make the pumpkin spice mix, put the: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger and sugar (if necessary) in a mortar and pound all the ingredients until smooth.
Add a quarter teaspoon of the pumpkin spice mix to a tall latte glass.
Pour 250 ml of cold milk into your milk frother and press twice for the latte cycle (this is a 2-minute cycle).
Make your espresso shot.
Then pour the milk into the glass and stir in the spice. Let it rest for a minute before adding the espresso shot as a topping.
Sprinkle another pinch of the pumpkin spice mix on top of the frothy latte and enjoy the taste of autumn in a glass!
TIPS
Adjust the amount of each spice to your individual taste - for example, you can use fewer cloves if you find the flavour too strong.
Alternatively, you can simply choose a jar of allspice (nutmeg, cinnamon and ground cloves) and a jar of ground ginger to make up your Pumpkin spice mix.
It is very important to rinse your milk frother immediately after use to avoid the accumulation of milk residue.
An alternative method of making this latte is to gently soak the spices in the milk in a microwave or in a pan. Then simply follow steps 4 and 5, before frothing 100 ml of milk using the cappuccino cycle (press once). Spoon the froth onto your latte and sprinkle with a pinch of pumpkin spice mix.
